The public performances of the 35 choirs participating in this year’s Street Choirs Festival will begin with the Massed Sing at Dock Park at noon on Saturday the 13th of June, 2026. The concert is expected to last about 45 minutes, but there will be considerable organising to get 800 singers arranged beside the bandstand in their respective voices: Soprano; Alto; Tenor; Bass.
Each choir has been rehearsing a variety of numbers celebrating the theme of this Festival: Equality and Love, so that when everyone gets together, everyone will be singing from the same hymn sheet. Kate Howard, the musical director of three local choirs (Cairn Chorus, SongWave Community Choir, and The CatStrand Singers) will lead the massed choir through the musical choices. The concert, a highlight of every festival, promises to be energising and moving, in the lovely outdoor space. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
Have a look at the Gallery of the attending choirs to see where all the music is coming from!
After the concert, the choirs will disperse to one of eleven different Street Singing sites dotted throughout the centre of Dumfries, as shown on the Open User Map below. On the Street Singing page, the locations are listed by site, showing the schedule of choirs expected at any given time between 1:00pm and 3:00pm, as well as by choir, so that you can follow a choir you particularly enjoy from site to site. Each choir will typically have two Street Singing slots in the afternoon.
