Supported Charities

Chosen Charities 2026

We’ve chosen to support two national charities with local branches here in Dumfries, and one local charity, for the 42nd annual Street Choirs Festival in 2026. Proceeds from donations offered to the collecting cannisters at the various busking events throughout Dumfries will be distributed among these charities:

Dumfries Befriending Project: What is the Dumfries & Galloway Befriending Project? The mission statement of this project describes its purpose:

“To enable our young people to develop, promoting health and wellbeing, whilst also improving their ability to form positive relationships.”

With offices in Dumfries and Newton Stewart, the project is developing the capacity to help young people from the region’s towns and villages grow, and we want to help them along as best we can.

The Maggie Centre: Due to commence building soon, this Maggie Centre is the first in the Southwest of Scotland. Maggie Centres around the UK offer support and assistance to people dealing with cancer, and their families, at a time when they need it most.

Dumfries Samaritans: Having worked in the local community for 44 years, the Dumfries branch of the world-wide support network is composed of a small but committed group of volunteers, and in this time of increasing crisis, we know they need our contributions more than ever.
