Our Festival Needs You!

The Street Choirs Festival is coming to Sheffield!….. and that means that there will be lots of opportunities to help make it a great event and a really positive experience for all involved. Volunteering’s a great way to feel involved in the festival and an opportunity to meet up with lots of people coming to it. You’ll also get a yellow volunteer’s Street Choirs Festival T-shirt and free entry pass for concerts if you’re not already in a performing choir.

The main events will be taking place at the University of Sheffield Octagon Centre and nearby on Western Bank with registration, information centre, the concerts and workshops. There will also be street singing around the city centre and a massed sing on Saturday morning in Sheffield Peace Gardens and a picnic on Sunday in Weston Park.

Volunteering for Street Choirs can involve a greater or lesser commitment and a wide variety of jobs.

Here are some of them:

  • Helping set up tables and resources, signage etc for registration,  information and workshops, sorting T-shirts and Sunday picnic
  • Staffing desks in the Octagon for registration, information and workshops, etc
  • Stewarding in and around the Octagon: helping direct individuals, performers and choirs for massed sing rehearsal and concerts, checking on the doors, directing and supporting people for workshops
  • Stewarding outdoors for directing people around the University site on Friday and Saturday, supporting choirs for Saturday morning street singing and for the massed sing, and for workshops and the Sunday picnic
  • General communication facilitation, liaison, triage and helping support people with additional needs
  • Final take down and clear up and left luggage staffing in Octagon on Sunday

We will need quite a horde of volunteers to cover all this, so please think about what you can offer. A volunteering slot could be for a couple of hours or longer.

If you think you can offer some time, please fill in the volunteer registration form here:
