The Weekend’s Programme

Based on the success of Sheffield’s event last year, we have chosen to follow a very similar pattern for this year’s Festival but there are a few differences.

We have endeavoured to plan in a way that provides space for performing, resting, eating, and socialising, whilst also meeting individual choir requests.

What has changed?

Voice/vocal part names

We have decided to make a move towards using a more gender fluid language within our festival. We realise this change has already begun in many of our NVN choirs. For this reason, we would like to move away from using Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass to a more inclusive use of High/Mid/Mid low/Low. We realise that there is no formal language and many of you may all be using your own words, but these are what we have chosen for this year. We hope you can embrace & support this change in making everyone feel welcome and included.

Outline for the Weekend.

Friday

The Mass Sing Rehearsal is on Friday in St. George’s Hall.

Saturday

Whilst we are all gathering in preparation for the Mass Sing, entertainment will be provided by a wonderful street band called The Peace Artistes.

We will also be sharing City Park with the Windrush Carnival of Culture. There will be a main stage, food stalls and a funfair set up in City Park.

The Mass Sing follows the Official Welcome and will also be in The Mirror Pool in City Park before the Windrush celebrations begin.

Our Street Singing will start shortly after this at various locations around the city centre.

Friday, 13th June –

All in St. George’s Hall.
